The Navman 500 is a neat & clever design giving you all you need out of the box to mount in car & power the system. The screen suction mount works well but it can be difficult to remove the unit from the swan neck for security depending on the angle of the windscreen.
I have found the GPS accuracy excellent & rarely drops below 5 sats in track which is more than enough for an good position fix. Time to first fix is normally less than a minute. The claim ... Read More

I bought this item to be an In-Car satellite Navigation System on the cheap. In particular some of my journeys to relatives require quite complex routes across multiple A and B roads. I had a vision that I could plot an ideal route off line and then be able to follow it on the road without having to consult a map whilst driving. I don't quite understand some of the complaints in earlier reviews.
Either km or miles are available- depending on setup in the menus.
In the UK the number of roads displayed depends on the setting in the details menu. I have yet to find a road missing. Even farm tracks were showing on my recent Welsh holiday.
I have found mine extremely useful, straight to I'd never been to before etc.. very highly recommended

Rating: - Fun little gadget - need more refinement?
I had hell of a time trying to find one in Asia, before heading for my vacation in Europe - finally managed to phone in Munich dealer from Singapore to book one! At first, the unit had lot of trouble finding startup location in downtown Munich - but improved as we moved away.

I owned one of these for approximately 5 days before returning it to the place of purchase (no questions money-back guarantee).
Having read some of the other reviews (good and bad) on the Palm 500 Series Navman the temptation to buy another gadget was just too much.
On reflection (and other people will have different views) this product has a problem justifying the.. price tag.. my reasons are as follows:
